Does being preoccupied with other matters instead of the remembrance of Allah lead to sin?

The remembrance of Allah is a highly rewarding act of worship, and its default ruling is recommendatory, so there is no sin upon one who does not remember Allah. It is recommended for a Muslim to keep their tongue moist with the remembrance of Allah at all times, except for what the Sharia has exempted, such as relieving oneself or listening to the Friday sermon. Remembrance can sometimes be obligatory, like some of the prescribed remembrances within prayer, and it can be forbidden in specific circumstances.
