Is it permissible to marry secretly without the family's knowledge to protect oneself from temptation, given the family's refusal to allow a divorced woman to marry a married man in a country that prohibits polygamy?

Polygyny is not a defect, and no guardian or law that prohibits it should be obeyed if one fears falling into sin (al-anat). However, marriage without a guardian is not valid, due to the Prophet's (PBUH) saying: "There is no marriage except with a guardian." If the closest guardian refuses, guardianship transfers to the next in line. If all refuse and it is impossible to refer the matter to a judge, it is permissible to appoint a Muslim man to conduct the marriage contract in the presence of two witnesses.
