And what is the ruling on subscribing to a TV package that includes movies and channels that may not be permissible, knowing that some friends subscribed to it based on the questioner's recommendation?

Giving gifts and presents is permissible. However, a Muslim is not allowed to assist in sin. If it is highly probable that a person who is lent a device or gifted one will use it for unlawful purposes, then it is forbidden to gift or lend it. It is an established principle that means share the same ruling as their ends. The questioner should strive to encourage his colleagues towards guidance to ensure they do not use devices for what is forbidden. He is not obligated to spy on them, as the default assumption for Muslims is their innocence from indecencies and sins, and Allah has forbidden ill-will and spying on believers. As for the movie package: he must cancel the subscription and urge those whom he directed to it to cancel their subscriptions. And whoever repents from a sin, his repentance is accepted, and the persistence of the sin's trace does not harm him.
