What is the ruling on wearing excessive makeup in front of unmarriageable kin (mahārim)?

There is no harm for a woman in wearing permissible makeup in front of women and male mahrams, as long as displaying her adornment in front of her mahrams does not cause fitnah for them. This is based on Allah's saying: "And let them not expose their adornment except to their husbands, their fathers, their husbands' fathers, their sons, their husbands' sons, their brothers, their brothers' sons, their sisters' sons, their women, that which their right hands possess, or those male attendants having no sexual desire, or children who are not yet aware of the private aspects of women."
