What is Islam's stance on Sufism, and was Saladin a Sufi?
The correct path leading to Allah is the path of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), his الخلفاء (Caliphs), his Companions, and those who followed them in righteousness, in affirmation of Allah's saying: "And verily, this is My Straight Path, so follow it, and follow not (other) paths, for they will separate you away from His Path." The Prophet (peace be upon him) also said: "Hold fast to my and the Sunnah of the Rightly Guided Caliphs after me. Cling to it firmly. Beware of newly invented matters, for every innovation is misguidance." As for the Sufi orders, they are filled with doctrinal deviations and violations of Islamic law. It has not been reported that al-Din al-Ayyubi was a Sufi.
