What is the considered duration of dryness? Is it sufficient for the cotton swab to come out clean for ghusl, despite the recurrence of yellow discharge? Is the duration of the menstrual period the days of bleeding or the legally recognized period of menstruation?

If a woman experiences complete dryness, she must perform ghusl immediately, according to the words of Ibn Abbas: "It is not permissible for her, when she sees purity for an hour, except to perform ghusl." If she then sees yellowish or brownish discharge outside of her customary period, she should not pay attention to it, for yellowish and brownish discharge is considered menstruation only if it occurs during the customary period or is connected to menstruation.
