Is the hadith, "He who marries his hand shall not enter Paradise," authentic?

1 min readAlso available in العربية

There is no hadith with this specific wording in the relied-upon books of hadith. Al-Bayhaqi narrated in Shu'ab al-Iman, on the authority of Anas, a Marfu' hadith: "Seven types of people Allah Almighty will not look at on the Day of Judgment, nor will He purify them, nor will He gather them with the worlds. He will admit them to Hell among the first to enter, unless they repent, unless they repent, unless they repent. Whoever repents, Allah will accept his repentance: He who marries his hand (masturbates), the one who commits sodomy and the one upon whom it is committed, the habitual drunkard, the one who strikes his parents until they seek help, the one who harms his neighbors until they curse him, and the one who marries his neighbor's wife." Al-Bayhaqi said: "Muslamah bin Ja'far was alone in narrating it." Al-Dhahabi said: "He and his shaykh are unknown." Thus, the hadith is weak. Al-Albani also deemed weak what is similar to its wording.
