Is the hadith, "Let the insane do as they wish, for they will not enter Paradise," authentic?

1 min readAlso available in العربية

This hadith is not authentic because its chain of narration contains a liar. However, other narrations support its meaning, among them what An-Nasa'i narrated and Al-Albani graded as hasan (good) about three types of people whom Allah will not look at on the Day of Judgment, and three who will not enter Paradise: the one disobedient to his parents, the woman who imitates men, the Dayyuth (a man who approves of indecency for his female relatives), the one addicted to alcohol, and the one who reminds others of his charity. The meaning of "will not enter Paradise" is either that they will not enter it initially, or that it is a paradise lesser than the highest paradise.
