What is the ruling on someone who performs an action and then learns of a reward for its doer?

If he performs a work before knowing about the ju'alah (stipulated reward), he is not entitled to the specified wage. And it is from the noble character to give him what pleases him and approaches the wage of his work or exceeds it.
