The answer

There is no objection to a woman in mourning (haddah) wearing clothes gifted to her, provided that they are not inherently adornment. Imam Ahmad was asked about a divorced woman and a widow, and he said: "Whatever she does of this, and she does not intend adornment by it, then there is no harm, except for dye and perfume."
