If working in restaurants does not involve directly selling prohibited items such as pork and alcohol, or assisting in their consumption, then there is no objection to it. However, if the work includes selling prohibited items and you are compelled to work to meet your essential needs, then it is permissible, provided that you cannot find any other work, and that you take from the wage only what is necessary for your needs and dispose of the rest.
