What is the ruling on a woman cutting her hair unevenly, along with a supporting text from the Qur'an or Sunnah and its interpretation?

A woman is permitted to cut her hair for adornment for her husband, as long as it does not involve imitation of disbelieving women, prostitutes, or men. The permissibility of this is indicated by what has been authentically reported regarding the wives of the Prophet (peace be upon him), who would shorten their hair until it reached the length of "al-wafrah" (hair reaching the earlobes or shoulders). There is no harm if some of her hair is longer than other parts, as the main consideration is to avoid blameworthy imitation.
