Is one who extends his legs in front of the Mushaf considered a disbeliever, even if he knows it is forbidden but does not intend disrespect? And what is the ruling on extending one's legs in front of a closed cabinet containing a Mushaf, or parallel to the Mushaf?

The jurists differed on the ruling concerning stretching one's legs towards the direction of a Mushaf. Some ruled it detestable (makruh), while others ruled it forbidden (haram). According to the view of prohibition, the one who does so is sinful if he is aware of the prohibition, and he must repent, but he does not commit disbelief unless he intended insult. As for the view of detestability, there is no sin. The same applies to one who stretches his legs towards a closed cabinet containing a Mushaf, unless the location of the Mushaf is not directly opposite the direction of the stretched legs, such as if it is elevated or lowered relative to them, or if the legs are angled away from it to the right or left. However, stretching the legs parallel to the Mushaf is permissible.
