Does the Hadith, "None but a believer loves the Ansar, and none but a hypocrite hates them," include individuals in our time who bear the surname "al-Ansari," and does the ruling of loving them being a sign of faith and hating them being a sign of hypocrisy apply to them if they are people of goodness and righteousness?

The agreed-upon Hadith narrated by Al-Bara' (may Allah be pleased with him) states that "None loves the Ansar but a believer, and none hates them but a hypocrite. Whoever loves them, Allah loves him, and whoever hates them, Allah hates him." This refers to the Ansar who sheltered the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and his Companions, and supported the religion of Allah, and it includes their followers and their descendants. The Ansar are the Aws and the Khazraj, whom the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) named as such, and the name was also applied to their children, allies, and freed slaves. Loving them is a sign of faith, and hating them is a sign of hypocrisy. As for merely adopting the name, its bearer does not fall under the purview of the Hadith. However, loving them for their righteousness for Allah's sake is from faith, and hating them for that is from hypocrisy, and this applies to all Muslims, for loving the people of faith is from faith.
