Which is better to act upon: prayer on time, or the adversity, suffering, and shaking mentioned in the verse: "Or do you think that you will enter Paradise while such [trial] has not yet come to you as came to those who passed on before you? They were touched by adversity and hardship and were shaken until [even] the Messenger and those who believed with him said, 'When is the help of Allah?' Unquestionably, the help of Allah is near"? And what is the distinction of acting upon this verse, and its distinction from other Quranic verses?

Performing the prayer at its appointed time is among the best deeds and the most beloved to Allah, as stated in the Hadith of Ibn Mas'ud: "Prayer at its appointed time," followed by honoring one's parents, and then striving in the way of Allah. Patience in obedience is better than patience in tribulation. Patience with destiny is found in both the righteous and the wicked, whereas patience with commands and prohibitions is the patience of the followers of the Messengers.
