Are the fingers and relics attributed to the Prophet—may God’s prayers and peace be upon him—in various places real or a myth?

Everything related to the existence of the Prophet’s, peace and blessings be upon him, fingers in Egypt is false, because the Prophet did not visit Egypt. It is not permissible to rub oneself against them or seek blessings from them; rather, they must be removed and destroyed.

Building mosques over graves is forbidden and a grave abomination. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, cursed the Jews and Christians for taking the graves of their prophets and righteous people as places of worship, and he considered the one who does so among the worst of creation. Graves must be separate from mosques, and a mosque should not be built over a grave. It is also not permissible to bury the dead in mosques, as that is a means to polytheism (shirk). The grave of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, and his two companions in Medina is not inside the mosque, but rather in the house of Aisha, and the inclusion of the chamber within the mosque during its expansion was a mistaken ijtihad (independent reasoning).
