Does divorce take effect if the father jokingly says, "Let's get divorced" or "Let's go," and the mother jokingly agrees?

One must be careful with the words of divorce, even in jest, for divorce is serious whether spoken earnestly or in play. The husband's statement to his wife, "Let's get divorced," does not constitute a divorce, because it is merely a suggestion and not an actualization of divorce. It is similar to a promise, by which divorce does not occur. The wife's reply, "Let's go," means an acceptance to go to the relevant authority for divorce, and not an acceptance of the divorce itself. Therefore, the marital bond between them remains intact.
