What should I do if a dog catches the edge of my garment in the street and I want to pray?

There is no need to wash clothes if it is not certain that they have been touched by dog saliva, as the original state is purity until impurity is proven. However, if it is certain that clothes have been touched by dog saliva, the spot where the saliva is must be purified by washing it seven times, one of them with earth. This is the view of the majority of scholars. It is permissible to follow the Maliki school of thought, which holds that dog saliva is pure, due to the ease and removal of hardship it offers.
