Is the following Hadith authentic: "A time will come upon people when they will consume usury whether they like it or not; if they do not partake of it, its dust will nevertheless reach them"?
This hadith was narrated by Ahmad, Abu Dawud, An-Nasa'i, and Ibn Majah from Abu Hurairah with the wording: "A time will surely come upon people when no one will remain but will consume usury. If he does not consume it, he will be afflicted by its dust." The hadith is narrated through the chain of Al-Hasan from Abu Hurairah, and there is a disagreement regarding his hearing from him. Al-Hakim authenticated it if the hearing was confirmed, and Al-Dhahabi authenticated Al-Hasan's hearing of this hadith from Abu Hurairah. However, Al-Hafiz reported from the majority that there was no hearing, and therefore Al-Albani and others deemed it weak.
