Is the person afflicted with obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) held accountable for their obsessions related to suicide, especially given their strong resistance to them, and considering that doctors believe OCD results from chemical imbalances in the brain rather than from Satan?

Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) may be due to Satanic influence, organic, psychological, or educational factors, or as a result of a specific situation. There is no blame on the person afflicted with obsessions for what he feels by way of intrusive thoughts, as long as no action results from them. The person afflicted with obsessions is advised to divert himself from these thoughts, increase the remembrance of Allah, and seek refuge in Him. If the obsession leads to a loss of sanity, then religious obligation is lifted, and accountability is waived.
