How should one act who has committed a sin and feels guilty but is unable to confess it?

A Muslim is not obliged to disclose their sin to anyone; rather, it is commendable for them to conceal it. The sin should, however, prompt them to sincere repentance, which consists of regretting the sin, abandoning it, and resolving never to return to it. A Muslim should not despair of Allah’s mercy, for sincere repentance can make them better than they were and alert them to matters of which they were heedless. They should be mindful of Allah’s constant watchfulness before and during the commission of a sin, and if they fall into sin, they should remember that Allah extends His hand for repentance. A Muslim should fear Allah, regret their sin, resolve not to return to it, increase in acts of obedience, change their environment and companions for the better, and make their repentance purely for Allah, while being keen on congregational prayers and circles of knowledge.
