Is it correct to begin by studying the Legal Maxims (al-Qawa'id al-Fiqhiyyah) before Fiqh (Islamic Jurisprudence)?

The science of legal maxims (al-Qawa'id al-Fiqhiyyah) is useful for regulating and facilitating legal rulings for jurists, as mentioned by Ibn Rajab al-Hanbali. However, merely knowing the maxims is not sufficient without studying the chapters of Fiqh. Rather, the more correct approach is to study the maxims in detail after thoroughly studying the chapters of Fiqh from the accredited texts. The science of Fiqh is the foundation, and the science of legal maxims complements the juristic aptitude. This does not contradict the possibility for a beginner to study an abridged text on maxims to become acquainted with this discipline.
