The best ways to learn Shafi'i jurisprudence (Fiqh) and the religious sciences are:

1. Sincerity of intention to Allah, with the aim of dispelling ignorance, acting upon the Sacred Law, and teaching people goodness.

2. Learning from a shaykh who is knowledgeable in the sciences, as direct oral transmission is the most beneficial and safest way to acquire knowledge.

3. Studying specialized books, provided that one understands the objectives of the science and the terminology of its practitioners, which is achieved through direct oral transmission.

4. Gradual progression in study, starting with the smaller foundational texts (mutun), then the larger ones, followed by their commentaries (shuruh) and supercommentaries (hawashi).

5. Diligence and perseverance in memorization, revision, meeting with scholars, and discussing with them.

6. Acting upon what is learned, for knowledge calls to action, and whoever acts upon what he knows, Allah will grant him knowledge of what he did not know.
