How does one study Fiqh given the multiplicity of opinions and their proponents, and what are the best books and methods for reading them, while taking into account starting with the text, then the fatwas of the Companions and the Tabi'in?
To acquire religious knowledge, especially jurisprudence (fiqh), one must purify their intention for Allah, dedicate themselves to seeking knowledge, and avoid sins.
To acquire fiqh: 1. First, follow a single school of thought () in jurisprudence, then study the other madhahib. 2. Adhere to one fiqh text until you master it before moving on to another. 3. Progress in studying texts from the simpler to the more complex. 4. Study under a shaykh who has mastered fiqh; relying on oneself or on forums is not sufficient. 5. Combine memorization and comprehension. Start with memorization while taking notes from your shaykh. 6. Teach what you have learned to solidify the information.
As for the best fiqh books, your shaykh will determine them for you based on your situation and level.
