Are the people of Yemen better than the Companions, based on the Prophet’s (peace be upon him) saying: “The people of Yemen have come to you, their hearts are more tender than yours,” and his saying: “Faith is Yemeni… Indeed, harshness and hardness of hearts are among the boisterous, at the roots of the tails of camels, where the two horns of Satan appear, among Rabīʿah and Muḍar”?

There are Hadith that describe the people of Yemen as "tender of heart and soft of heart," and that "faith is Yemeni and wisdom is Yemeni." This does not mean that they are absolutely better than the Companions, for those mentioned in the Hadith are among the Companions, and the preference here relates to a specific quality (tenderness) and does not necessitate absolute preference. Some individuals may possess a virtue that does not entail absolute superiority over others. As for the Faddadoon (owners of many camels, known for harshness in voice and dealings) from Rabī‘ah and Mudar, they are described as harsh and hard-hearted, but not all Arabs from these two tribes.
