Is what the Prophet, Allah’s prayers and peace be upon him, meant by the Hadith "Faith is from Yemen and wisdom is from Yemen" the Ahl al-Bayt, or the people of Yemen, or the people of Mecca and Medina? And have the people of Yemen been characterized by wisdom throughout history?

The claim that "the people of Yemen" in the hadiths praising them refers to the Prophet, peace be upon him, and his household is incorrect and not held by any scholar. The hadiths clearly indicate that the intended meaning is literally the people of Yemen, and Abu Hurayrah, the narrator of the hadith, interpreted it this way. When the Prophet, peace be upon him, was asked about the people of Yemen, he described them as: "a people with tender hearts, soft hearts; faith is Yemeni, and wisdom is Yemeni," and that they would bring conquest and Allah's victory.

As for the narration "I am Yemeni," its chain of transmission is weak due to the presence of an unknown narrator. Even if it were authentic, its meaning would be similar to his saying, peace be upon him, about the Ash'aris: "They are from me, and I am from them," meaning that they follow his path in obedience. Denying the emergence of wise individuals from Yemen throughout history is ignorance of history, and among them is Abu Musa al-Ash'ari, the sixth judge among the Companions and the governor of Basra.
