Many hadiths and virtues have been narrated concerning Ash-Sham (Greater Syria) and Yemen, among them that the people of Yemen are softer of heart and gentler of disposition, and that faith and wisdom are Yemeni. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, prayed for blessings upon Ash-Sham and Yemen, and mentioned that the angels spread their wings over Ash-Sham. Affairs will eventually lead to armies gathered in Ash-Sham, Yemen, and Iraq. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, advised [residence in] Ash-Sham because it is Allah's chosen land, otherwise, to seek refuge in Yemen. A fire will emerge, driving people from Hadramawt or its vicinity, so [you must go to] Ash-Sham. Faith will remain in Ash-Sham when tribulations occur, and there will always be a group from the Ummah fighting at the gates of Damascus and Jerusalem, triumphant upon the truth until the Day of Resurrection. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, also saw the pillar of the Book being carried to Ash-Sham and placed there.
