Is playing musical instruments of all kinds, including religious chants, forbidden in all cases?

Using musical instruments and wind instruments is forbidden, except for the daff (tambourine) at weddings and similar occasions. This is the opinion of the majority of scholars. As for chanting accompanied by musical instruments, it is forbidden, whether it is religious or not. However, chanting that is free from musical instruments and bad language is permissible.
