Is it permissible for me to remove my khimar and niqab in front of a blind man?

1 min readAlso available in العربية

There is no harm for a woman in removing her niqab or khimar in front of a blind man, as Fatimah bint Qais (may Allah be pleased with her) narrated that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) commanded her to observe her 'iddah in the house of Ibn Umm Maktum, because he was a blind man before whom she could lay aside her garments. This ruling has been affirmed by the two Shaykhs, Ibn 'Uthaymeen and Al-Fawzan.
