What is the ruling on speaking after the 'Isha prayer?

It is disliked to converse after the 'Isha prayer, except for a benefit or a good purpose, such as studying knowledge, speaking with a guest, or discussing reconciliation between people. This is based on what was reported from the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, regarding his dislike of sleeping before 'Isha and conversing after it, for fear of missing the prayer or the night vigil. What is disliked is that which has no benefit and is not forbidden unless the speech itself is forbidden, like backbiting and slander.
