1 min readAlso available in العربية

The agreed-upon places for prostration (sujud) are: Al-A'raf, Ar-Ra'd, An-Nahl, Al-Isra, Maryam, Al-Furqan, An-Naml, Alif Lam Mim Tanzil (As-Sajdah), Sad, Fussilat, An-Najm, Al-Inshiqaq, and Al-Alaq, in addition to the first prostration in Surat Al-Hajj. It is mentioned that scholars have reached a consensus on prostration in Surat Al-A'raf and Maryam. As for the prostrations in Sad, An-Najm, Al-Inshiqaq, and Al-Alaq, authentic مرفوعة (marfu'a) hadiths have been reported regarding them.

It was narrated from Umar ibn Al-Khattab concerning the prostration in An-Nahl that he said: "Whoever prostrates has done well, and whoever does not prostrate incurs no sin."

It was narrated from Al-Muwaffaq Ibn Qudamah that the positions of prostration are established by consensus, except for the prostrations of the Mufassal surahs and the second prostration in Al-Hajj.
