What is the ruling on maintaining a waqf house using mosque funds derived from worshippers' donations?

If the donations are earmarked for a specific purpose, such as the poor or the mosque, then this earmarking must be adhered to. However, if they are general for charitable causes, there is no objection to renovating the endowment house from them, because it falls under charitable expenditures. If the house is for the benefit of the mosque, such as a home for the imam or the muezzin, then reference should be made to the fatwas related to that.
