Is suicide or jihad obligatory to expiate a great sin punishable by death as a hadd?

The mercy of Allah is expansive, encompassing the forgiveness of all sins for those who repent, as confirmed by His words: "Say, 'O My servants who have transgressed against themselves [by sinning], do not despair of the mercy of Allah. Indeed, Allah forgives all sins. Indeed, it is He who is the Forgiving, the Merciful.'" The joy of Allah at the repentance of His servant is immense, and one who repents from a sin is like one who has no sin. If the sin is purely against Allah, then a sincere repentance is sufficient for forgiveness. However, if it involves the rights of others, then those rights must be restored to their owners or their forgiveness sought. After that, Allah will transform the evil deeds of the penitent into good deeds, as He says: "Except for those who repent, believe and do righteous deeds; for those, Allah will change their evil deeds into good ones. And Allah is ever Forgiving, Most Merciful."
