Is the giving out of various foods after the Friday prayer in the mosque, on joyful occasions or as charity on behalf of the deceased, from which all worshippers partake, considered legally established in Islamic law? And is it the "adornment" mentioned in His — the Almighty’s — saying: "Take your adornment at every masjid, and eat and drink, but be not excessive"?

The Companions considered the gathering of the deceased's family and the preparation of food after burial as a form of wailing (niyaha). The four Madhhabs (schools of thought) agreed on the reprehensibility (karahah) of people gathering to eat at the house of the deceased, considering it contrary to the Sunnah, with the exception of the Hanbalis, who made an exception for guests. However, giving charity of food without a gathering at the deceased's house is not reprehensible.
