The most preponderant narrations regarding the punishment for sodomy is stoning with rocks for both the perpetrator and the one upon whom it is perpetrated, whether virgin or previously married. This is the view of Ali, Ibn Abbas, Jabir bin Zayd, Abdullah bin Mu'ammar, Al-Zuhri, Abu Habib, Rabi'ah, Malik, and Ishaq. It is also a narration from Al-Shafi'i and Ahmad. Al-Tirmidhi, Abu Dawud, and Ibn Majah, among others, narrated that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Whoever you find doing the deed of the people of Lut, kill the doer and the one to whom it is done." As for who carries out the killing, it is the ruler, so that chaos and disorder do not occur in affairs.
