Is it permissible for a woman to allow itinerant vendors into her home, or to buy from them at the door, while her sisters, children, and brothers are inside the house, and the woman and the vendor are in the courtyard of the house?
It is forbidden to be in seclusion with a non- woman, due to the Prophet’s (peace be upon him) saying: “No man should be in seclusion with a woman unless she has a mahram with her.”
Forbidden seclusion is when a man and a woman meet in a place where they are safe from anyone entering upon them, or where their persons are concealed from people. If these conditions are absent, and there is no fear of temptation, and the woman adheres to her lawful, concealing , then there is no harm in that.
A woman must not permit anyone whom her husband dislikes to enter his house, due to the Prophet’s (peace be upon him) saying: “It is not permissible for a woman to fast while her husband is present except with his permission, nor should she allow anyone into his house except with his permission.”
