Is it permissible to change the weekend holiday from Friday and Saturday to Saturday and Sunday, and what are the evidences against the permissibility of that?

Friday is the best and most important day of the week. Scholars have differed regarding making it a holiday. Some disliked it, considering it an imitation of Jews and Christians. Others saw it as appropriate for Muslims to prepare for Friday prayer, including cleanliness, perfuming themselves, and going early to the mosque. There is no binding text regarding whether Friday should be a holiday or not. If changing the weekend holiday does not involve an intention to align with the People of the Book's holidays, and the motive is the country's need, then there is no harm in it.
