Is a son's going to the distant mosque and leaving the nearby one considered hypocrisy if it is to please his father?

A child must obey his father if the father has a valid reason for preventing him from wearing certain clothes, or styling his hair in specific ways, or praying in a particular mosque. However, if these matters are permissible by Sharia and custom, and the father's prohibition is without justification, then obedience is not obligatory. Scholars have differed on the preference for praying in the nearby or distant neighborhood mosque, and the preponderant opinion is the nearby one. The child is advised to obey his father in what is good, and he should not abandon praying in the nearby mosque for fear of showing off (riyaa'), because honoring one's parents is among the best acts of devotion and a major cause for entering Paradise.
