The question

What is the ruling on paying a bribe to a doctor to obtain a false medical certificate to support a request to return to study, and what is the ruling on lying in the content of this certificate? Is repentance for these actions sufficient, and what is the manner of repentance? Is it permissible to supplicate for success along with a request for forgiveness if it is impermissible?

The answer

Your obligation is to take the initiative to repent to Allah Almighty for the forbidden acts you have committed, such as bribery and lying. You are not required to abandon your studies; rather, your sincere repentance to Allah Almighty and your proficiency in your studies and work are sufficient. Sincere repentance is achieved by regretting your sins, abandoning them, and having a firm resolve not to return to them, along with restoring any injustices if they exist or seeking forgiveness from those you have wronged. It is also recommended to increase in acts of obedience, for good deeds erase bad ones.
