Will Allah accept the repentance and supplication of a person who has committed evil deeds and sins, even if he denied or lied when apprehended out of fear of imprisonment? And is what happened to him considered divine retribution, and how can he رفع عنه ذلك (be relieved of that)?
Repentance is accepted from anyone who fulfills its conditions: abstaining from the sin, resolving never to repeat it, and regretting having committed it. Whoever repents with sincere repentance, Allah will accept their repentance, no matter how great their sin, for Allah Almighty says: "And it is He who accepts repentance from His servants and pardons sins." And whatever affliction befalls him, it may be a purification and a test from Allah Almighty. There is no sin upon him for denying having committed this sin, if he has repented with sincere repentance.
