Your father is obligated to pay the blood money (diyah) for the abortion, regardless of whether he intended the abortion or not. This is one-tenth of the mother's diyah, amounting to fifty gold dinars, or the equivalent of 212.5 grams of gold, or its value in banknotes. Your father inherits nothing from the diyah, as it is a right belonging to the heirs, excluding him. He is also obligated to perform an expiation (kaffarah), which is freeing a slave or fasting for two consecutive months. If he is permanently unable to fast, he moves to feeding the poor.
