What is the reason for the deviation of an orphaned girl whose parents died when she was five, and who was raised by her grandmother? Is this due to her deprivation of affection, or to a bad seed? Is it permissible to return her to her father after she has recovered?

When a girl reaches puberty, she is given the choice to reside with whichever parent she chooses, according to the preponderant opinion. If her father's situation becomes stable and he is deemed trustworthy for her, then it is more appropriate for her to reside with him, unless her residence in a non-Muslim country would be a trial for her. In that case, she should reside with one of her male mahram (definition) relatives. Her marriage should be arranged by her father or someone he deputizes, or by the closest of her male relatives if her father is incapacitated. It is not permissible for her grandmother or maternal uncle to arrange her marriage. It is obligatory to continuously advise her, teach her matters of her religion, encourage her to associate with righteous women, and close off avenues of trials from her.
