Is it permissible to make an exception for learning boxing and striking the face in army training, on the grounds that the enemy does not observe what is lawful and unlawful, and does boxing become permissible by using face protectors?

The Fiqh Assembly Council unanimously decided that boxing, as currently practiced, is Islamically forbidden (haram). This is because it is based on permitting each competing boxer to inflict severe physical harm on the other. Its prohibition revolves around the principle of harm and injury, and the intention to strike the face. If the cause (of prohibition) is removed, and it becomes solely for strengthening the body and self-defense without inflicting harm, along with the use of face protectors, and without falling into any Islamically forbidden acts like missing prayers or revealing one's 'awrah (private parts), then the prohibition is lifted.
