How accurate is the statement that Hudhayfah ibn al-Yaman (may Allah be pleased with him) did not pray over Abu Bakr, Umar, and Uthman upon their deaths, and that he does not pray over hypocrites? And how can one respond to this misconception related to Hudhayfah's hadith, which indicates a tribulation that will befall Muslims, causing them to pray secretly?

The least that can be said to those who make this false claim is: (Produce your proof, if you are truthful). These innovators of Bid'ah (religious innovation) have no limit to their lies, and they utter absurdities that no rational person would accept; merely narrating them is sufficient to refute them. These are the same people who claimed that Hudhayfah knew that Abu Bakr, Umar, and Uthman intended to kill the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, in the incident of Al-Aqabah. Hudhayfah, may Allah be pleased with him, was appointed by Umar as the governor of Mada'in (Ctesiphon), and he resided there until his death. Therefore, it is not surprising if he missed the funeral prayer for Umar and Uthman, should that be proven.
