Is it permissible to hold dinner parties, auctions, and sell tickets to collect money for charity?

We consider all the matters mentioned in the question permissible, and all of them are lawful means of collecting sadaqah (charity), with attention to some points:

1. It is necessary to avoid paying for the dinner of the gathering from the organizing committee or donors specifically for this purpose, especially if the price is exorbitant. It is obligatory to avoid extravagance and to observe the intention of the endower and donor.

2. It is not permissible to display trivial items or items belonging to singers and actors in the auction. Only useful and beneficial items should be displayed.

3. The gathering should not be mixed between men and women. Separate times should be allocated for women.

The price paid for tickets and purchases in the auction is considered a donation, and there is no harm in it.
