Is it permissible to give zakat to a person who was dismissed from his job due to his affiliation with the Muslim Brotherhood, and who supports a family?
There is no impediment to giving zakat to one's brother if he is among the eight categories of those eligible for zakat, whom Allah Almighty mentioned in the verse from Surat At-Tawbah: "Indeed, [ prescribed] charitable offerings are only to be given to the poor and the indigent, and to those who work on [collecting] them, and to those whose hearts are to be reconciled, and to [free] those in bondage, and to the debt-ridden, and for the cause of God, and to the wayfarer."
