It is permissible for a person to perform Hajj at someone else's expense, whether that person is one of the spouses or other relatives and friends. No one is legally obliged to bear the Hajj expenses for another. However, some scholars have made an exception for parents, obliging a well-off son to facilitate Hajj for them, considering this an act of filial piety. As for someone who loses their money or has it stolen while in Makkah, they must continue to complete their Hajj or Umrah if they have already entered into ihram, because abandoning the rituals will not alleviate the harm they have suffered. And whoever was able to perform Hajj but did not do so without a valid excuse until their ability ceased, must repent to Allah, seek His forgiveness, and resolve to hasten to Hajj when it becomes easy for them, according to the saying of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him: "Whoever intends to perform Hajj, let him hasten, for the sick may fall ill, the mount may go astray, and a need may arise."
