Will the repentance of an AIDS patient, whose life has been determined by doctors to be very short, be accepted?

1 min readAlso available in العربية

He must immediately hasten to repentance, even if he is in the throes of death, because the door of repentance is open as long as he is conscious. He must repent and distance himself from sins, even if he is told that his life is short, for lifespans are in the hands of Allah, and their assumption might be wrong. What is obligatory is to hasten with sincere repentance so that Allah may accept his repentance, as Allah the Almighty says: (And turn to Allah in repentance, all of you, O believers, that you might succeed.) An-Nur/31, and (But indeed, I am a Perpetual Forgiver of whoever repents and believes and does righteousness and then continues to be guided.) Taha/82, and the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: (Indeed, Allah accepts the repentance of a servant as long as the death rattle has not reached his throat.)
