Does a young man's apparent religious commitment, coupled with his commission of some sins in private, indicate hypocrisy, and should he fear showing off (riyaa')?

"Continue to do good, enjoin what is right and forbid what is wrong, and adhere to outward guidance. Do not pay attention to the whispers of Satan. Repent to Allah with sincere repentance whenever you sin, and beware of committing sins openly. Strive against your soul to abandon evil deeds and perform acts of obedience, and to reform your actions and your heart. Strive diligently in supplication, asking Allah to accept your deeds and protect you from hypocrisy."
