Is it permissible for a traveler to combine the Dhuhr and Asr prayers, and is it permissible to offer a single Iqamah if there is a separation between them?

A traveler is permitted to combine and shorten the prayers (Dhuhr with Asr, and Maghrib with Isha) provided that the journey is lawful and its distance is that which permits shortening (approximately 83 km). It is recommended to perform an Iqamah for each prayer, but it is permissible to combine them with a single Iqamah. The majority of scholars permit a brief separation between the combined prayers with an Iqamah and a light ablution.
